Saucified!

So, we've been putting Beniah in an exersaucer that we borrowed from a friend (thanks Liz!) and he has really been enjoying himself. My sister and BIL had loaned us a jumperoo thing but I don't think that he really "got" that contraption. So, we have went with the saucer for some toy play time. I'll keep trying the jumper every so often to see if he takes to it with the same passion (is that the right word?) as my niece did. It might be that he is just in between the settings and needs to grow just a little taller to get the most out of it. We'll see.

The Start Of a New Season

Yesterday, Greenville Football made its 2009 season debut...kind of. We had a scrimmage against Millikin University in Decatur. We will actually play them in our new schedule next year. This gave the team and coaches a chance to work the "kinks" out before an actual game. It was a beautiful day for a game (I wish all games were on days like that). I actually got a little sun burned. For some reason in the process of applying sunscreen to Beniah (twice) I seemed to have forgotten my pasty skin.

Crockin' It Up

So, since we aren't really using our grill these days (ask me about it sometime) and it is still summer around here so I don't like to make the house hot, I've been trying to find some new crock pot recipes. I felt like eating some meatloaf the other day, so I went to my trusty allrecipes.com website to look for a crock pot version. Bingo! I found this one. Hint: if you use this site, it is always good to read some of the reviews. They give you good tips, especially for substitutions. Anyways, other than the topping being a little too sweet for me (Jeff thought it was perfect though) we both gave it two thumbs up!

Zoo Fun!

This past Saturday we (Beniah and myself, Daddy was at work) met my mom, brothers, younger brother's fiancee, and at least half of the kiddos, and went to the St. Louis zoo. Boy, it was a long day! But, it was really fun especially since it was just our family hanging out. Lately, when we have all been together (sorry Sis you weren't able to go!) it was at some larger function where there was a lot of extended family or other things going on. This was nice because we actually got to talk to one another and see the kiddos. Hopefully we get to do something like it again soon. :-)

Happy Birthday Sweetie!

To my darling husband: I wish you the bestest birthday today. You are a wonderful husband, father, and best friend. I am so thankful that you were born today and that you are part of our lives. Thank you for all that you do for us and for the many ways that you support us. We love you! Patty & Beniah (& Mickey!)

Randomness

Ok, so I'll be posting several recent events tonight since I just got around to downloading pics from the weekend. Anyways...check this out.

It is either a two-headed gerber daisy or that is just how the flower opens up and I've never seen it in this stage before. Hopefully its not the two-headed option and our house is sitting on nuclear waste causing its crazy yet beautiful mutation. Okay, now that I've got that randomness out...

We Survived!

We had our first round of immunization shots this afternoon and we made it through with only a couple of tears and so far no adverse effects. Ben was a real trooper and made it through all three shots with no problem. PTL! He even went to bed at the usual time (we'll see how he does tonight). In other news, we had a nice visit with Jeff's parents this weekend. They came down to celebrate Jeff's b'day (early) and to see Beniah. My mom also came up to visit on Sunday. Here is a little action from the weekend.

Yummers!

As I write this, I am enjoying some very good soup. This soup that I write about is called Stuffed Pepper Soup. So if you are picturing stuffed peppers and thinking EWWWWWW! then I would keep on moving on because this soup is for all of those stuffed pepper lovers out there (at least lovers of the main ingredients in stuffed peppers). I've had this recipe for a little while but was waiting until green peppers were in season and were on sale (or free). I know you are thinking...its hot outside so who wants to eat soup? But think lunch here. A nice, hearty lunch that did I mention is low in calories? Yep, one cup of soup is only 150calories and when served with the rice, 350 calories. I got this recipe from one of my favorite food blogs called Chaos in the Kitchen.
Let me know if you try it and what you thought about it...

Updates...

We are still here...just been trying to cram everything in before football starts. It is now officially football season here in the DiSandro house. But before all of the long days with Jeff away at practice and meetings he got to spend some quality time with Ben. All summer, Jeff was able to spend at least part of the day teaching Ben the important things in life (like the proper footwork and arm positioning an offensive guard needs to know) and talking about all of the trips they are going to take together (hopefully I will be invited also). They also read a lot of books, went on walks with Mickey, and listened to "their" favorite music.

You may have noticed that a certain little bum is looking that it might start hitting the floor any day now. I didn't think he would grow out of his bouncy this fast but apparently he can't use it forever. :-) Luckily I have a couple of other options hopefully coming this way soon...
