Fantabulous Crock Pot Recipe

I made this pulled pork on Saturday and it was GREAT! Plus, I had all of the ingredients on hand and it was soooooo easy (even a new mom can do it). I paired it with some cole slaw and roasted potatoes and YUM, an easy and delicious meal for us and our company.

Growing Pains?

No, I'm not talking about your old half hour visit with Kirk Cameron. Mr. Ben has decided that he is going to hit a growth spurt and with that be a little fussy. He has definitly spoiled us these past three weeks with the good sleeping and little to no fussiness. Well, the past couple of days, its like we have been living with a different child. He has to constantly be held and will then only go to sleep if someone is holding him up against their chest. We took him in to see the doctor today because we didn't know exactly what was wrong and if this was "normal" behavior at this stage. Their answer was that newborns usually hit a fussy stage around 2-6 weeks while they are regulating and maybe it is a little gas thrown in there as well. While we were there though we had a weigh in and guess who is now 11 lb 10 oz and 23 and 1/4" long. He is averaging a pound a week now. When does that usually slow down? Either way, he is a healthy little boy that probably has a little too much gas. Actually, I've recently given him a little nickname...Mr. Toots. He doesn't seem to mind it right now.

Big Weekend

The past weekend we did several things for the first time. Well, not for the first time ever but for the first time toting a newborn. Jeff's parents came down on Saturday and stayed with us for the weekend. Gramma and Papa kept saying how big he had gotten since they were here for the delivery. He is definitely one growing boy. I don't know how much newborns usually eat in one sitting but this guy can put it away. Sometimes he eats 6-7 oz in one sitting.
Well, the "firsts" that I was referring to were Ben's first stroller/walk through Greenville, his first trip to church and time in the nursery, and his first grocery shopping excursion outside of G'ville. I'm happy to report he did very well during all three. There were minimal tears and very little fussiness. He definitely gets his laid back attitude from his daddy (who does tend to fuss a little during shopping trips).

Ben's First Football Practice!

Sorry, I'm a little slow at posting these days. This one is from last week. Last Thursday was the last spring football practice and Beth had texted me asking if I was going. To be honest, I hadn't really thought about it. I actually didn't even know if it was nice outside, since I hadn't stepped out of the house all day and not to mention hadn't even showered yet...it was almost 4:30 pm. So, I said why not, and jumped in the shower, packed Ben up and headed out the door. After we figured out how to keep the sun off of him, he got to get out of his carseat and Beth finally got to hold him and gave him a bottle to keep him happy. He slept through most of practice but it won't be long before he is out there running and playing on the track with the rest of the coaches' kids.

Happy Mother's Day!

This past Sunday we made our first family day trip out. We went down to my parents' house to surprise my mom and dad for 1)Mother's Day and 2)my dad's 60th birthday was on Monday. They were definitely surprised. :-) Also, my sister and BIL and niece were also visiting that weekend. So they got to meet Benny. It was nice to get out of the house and for some of the family to get to see Beniah. This coming weekend, Jeff's family is coming down to visit. So that will be nice to see all of them.

2 Weeks!

It's hard to believe that at this time, two weeks ago, Benny's arrival was still a big question mark. I had stayed home from work that Monday because it was just too uncomfortable to sit at a desk all day. So I did a little cleaning, a little laundry, a little napping, etc. Jeff and I went out to dinner that night and one of the main topics of discussion was when we were going to meet our little Beniah. Well, these past 2 weeks have flown by. My mom was a huge blessing in the first week. She stayed with us and cooked, cleaned, changed diapers, and did laundry while I recovered and Jeff was able to go to practice. We've had a few bumps but overall he and I are doing very well. We had his two week appt. this morning and he is now 10 lb 10 oz. We also got the go ahead to let him sleep through the night if he wants to without waking him to feed him. And it looks like we are past any further jaundice problems. So, Benny is in pretty good shape! Now we just need some really nice weather so that we can start going on some walks.

The Dimple Has Been Captured!

Thanks again to Liz for practicing on Benny and taking these pics. The last picture that she was able to take, before her card filled up, was the dimple shot. Cute huh?

The Ellusive Dimple...

I've been on the hunt ever since I first caught a glimpse of it. I never realized this before but, one of the hardest things in the world is to capture a newborn's smile on camera. They occur at random moments (especially when you don't have a camera sitting anywhere near you or better yet one out of the case and ready for the perfect shot). The first time we caught sight of one of Ben's smiles his cuteness factor jumped 100 points (like he could get any cuter) - a little dimple had appeared in his left check. Boy is he going to melt hearts someday. I am making it my mission to catch this rarity on camera though. Even if it means that I have to leave cameras all over the house ready to snap a pic at a moment's notice. If I fail, I guess you will all have to wait for a couple more weeks until we can tag-team him and coax one out of him.

He's Here!

Beniah John DiSandro was born on April 28th at 5:02 pm. He weighed a whopping 9 lb 12 oz and was 22 in long. Boy is he a cutie. You can see pics of the day he was born here.
